Washougal SR 14 Pedestrian Tunnel

The pedestrian tunnel under SR 14 in Washougal, WA, was opened to the public in May 2011,  providing a direct link between downtown and the Columbia River waterfront. The 115-foot long tunnel was constructed from 15 pre-cast concrete sections, each weighing nearly 19 tons.  The project was recently named a Public Works Project of the Year by the Washington American Public Works Association (APWA), in the Transportation Category, for projects less than $5 million. For more details, please see the project description and a recent article in The Columbian.
